One of the easiest ways that we can choose to live differently in response to the challenge of global poverty is through the purchasing decisions we make.  A great place to start is with buying Fairtrade products wherever possible and a great time to start is during Fairtrade Fortnight – which is right now.

The range of Fairtrade products is always increasing and the number of outlets has also increased – because of the demand of good people just like us. So make it a habit of asking for Fairtrade products where you shop – and thanking retailers for stocking fairly traded goods.

The events of Easter are at the heart of what the Christian faith is about. It is the culmination of the message of the God who "so loved the world". The events that are taking place around the world today are so shattering that we need to again come to the place where we can hear the message of Easter.

• we grow weary with the news of war in Iraq and Afghanistan; 
• we hear of the revolutionary struggles in Egypt, Libya and Bahrain;
• we in New Zealand mourn for friends and relatives in the ruins of Christchurch;
• we are stunned by the images of the shattering power of the Japanese earthquake and tsunami; and
• we feel the fear of those in Japan threatened by radiation leaks.

Summer Holidays - a great time to take a break and recharge the batteries after a busy year. I trust that 2011 has started well for you – there is certainly much to look forward to – with many exciting challenges and opportunities ahead for us…
