10 10 10

10 10 10 is Micah Challenge's global campaign calling on Christians around the world to renew their commitment to supporting the MDG goal of halving extreme poverty by 2015. We are now at the two thirds point. Some areas have made great progress, but the economic crisis of the last two years has pushed others further back into poverty. We need a renewed call to governments to do more than just talk, but to meet their commitments. We need a renewed awareness among Christians of the spiritual dimensions of poverty, and our responsibility to act.

Monday Prayer: In the weeks between now and 10 October Micah Challenge International is calling for a weekly day of prayer. We are posting the weekly prayer points on our Facebook page. You don't have to be a Facebook user to see this. Click on the link and you will be able to see our latest updates, as well as the weekly prayer. The prayer call is based on the Prayer of Nehemiah, and the 10 10 10 prayer that has been written for Micah Challenge.

Resources: We have produced a Toolkit of resources for churches and groups to use on 10 10 10. The toolkit contains ideas, activities and resources for organising events that will raise people's awareness and involvement with the issues. The toolkit will be available from Micah Challenge member organisations. Contact us for more information

Events: Organise an event with your friends, using the resources in the Toolkit. Tell us about your event and we will include it in our "News & Events" page on our website. Sign up on our Facebook Event page, and tell us what you are doing (you do need to be a Facebook user to sign up). Our aim is to have 400 groups participating on the day!

Actions, not words

A recent CNN investigation found that six months after the Haiti earthquake less than 2% of the reconstruction funds promised by governments around the world had actually been handed over.

By contrast the article says that "charities, meanwhile, are spending money as fast as they get it".

Promises are easy to make, but they don't mean anything unless they are carried through.

The Micah Call

The Micah Call is a global petition, and a statement of our belief that now is a time when poverty can be challenged:
